 Course Description

Most of the class time will focus on learning how to diagnose and correct technique errors when coaching individual shooters, and how to be a more effective instructor when demonstrating skills and running a firing line.

There is more to being a skilled instructor than simply becoming certified to teach a particular curriculum and being a great shooter. After training with more than 70 different trainers over the past 30 years, hosting traveling trainers, teaching NRA instructor certification courses, and mentoring the trainers on my KR Training team, I’ve identified topic areas that aren’t taught in other instructor classes, and aren’t learned in the process of improving your own shooting skill.

Required Equipment:

  • Handgun,
  • Minimum of 2 spare magazines or speedloaders,
  • Magazine/speedloader carriers,
  • Eye and ear protection,
  • Baseball cap (to deflect spent brass and keep the sun out of your eyes),
  • Minimum of 300 rounds of ammunition.

Prerequisites

Experience as an instructor, facilitator, range safety officer or shooting coach.

  • A rigid holster (AIWB, IWB or OWB) that does not collapse or close when the handgun is drawn from it,
  • Magazine pouches/carriers,
  • A handgun that is particularly different to shoot and/or is very large or small.
